JOSHUA RADIN CONCERT

So this guy is pretty much my favorite singer. Matt and I heard him on scrubs while we were still in Omaha and downloaded the song. Then randomly while we were in a furniture store we found his CD. We loved the entire thing and I listened to it all the time! He came to Boise in May and we went with a few friends. Then last night my awesome Brother Ben hooked us up! He is over the music for YGG so he gets emails and invites all the time. He remembered us mentioning that we liked him back when they visited us 2 years ago. I am so glad he thought of us because he put us on the list! Not only did he get us into the concert for free but he also got us backstage! The whole cast of Scrubs was there plus a few others, Heather Graham, the Cary Brothers, etc. We chatted with Joshua a little and Matt even talked to Donald Faison while waiting for our Valet. Ben and Katie and I were all laughing so hard. It was so fun and the concert was incredible! It was at the House of Blues and the whole crowd seemed to be so into it! He has a great band behind him with a stand up bass and a cello. Ben had gotten his new CD early and gave it to me a week or so ago. I have been listening to it quite a bit because its so soothing and has gotten me through this last week. If you don't already love him, check out his stuff, you won't be disappointed!

Porter's Scare!

Please Read this entry! I know often times looking at blogs gets overwhelming so many times we opt not to read what is written but for my sake, please please read this!
Yesterday afternoon I took my kids and my sisters kids swimming at a friends subdivision pool. My Sister Heather and Brother Harrison were there with me also. We were having a great time and about ready to leave. I decided to get in the pool with the 2 older kids before we left. Porter fell into the Jacuzzi and my brother Harrison saw him struggling and ran over to pull him out. But when he pulled him out he was purple, throwing up and not breathing. I immediately freaked out and couldn't think of what to do. I was just so emotional and overwhelmed that I couldn't make rational decisions. Seeing him lying there lifeless was killing me and controlling my thoughts. Luckily things turned out well. Luckily there were 3 moms that were there that happened to be nurses. They immediately helped my brother and I perform CPR. Luckily porter finally took a breath after several tries of breathing and chest compressions. He threw up all the water and his color quickly came back. My sister called 911 and they got there within a few minutes. They took him to St. Jude emergency room in the ambulance and then transferred him to Childrens hospital in Orange County. They watched his vital signs over night and everything just kept going great! It was definitely the scariest thing I have ever experienced. It was so traumatic and I strongly feel that there is a lesson to be learned. Many have asked what they can do to help and all I ask is to please pass on this information to every mother you know! NEVER PUT A FLOATING DEVICE ON YOUR CHILD! Porter is in his 4th week of swimming lessons and knows enough for survival. His swim teacher called me last night and told me he couldn't believe it when he heard it because Porter knows how to swim and was doing awesome in his class! Instead of holding him evenly out of the water, the floatie made him top heavy. Once Porters weight was forward, the floatie kept his face down and would not allow him to get his feet back underneath him to hold his head out of the water. This is what makes them so dangerous.
Please also look into taking a CPR class. It was so crucial in porters situation that the women there knew what they were doing. But what if they weren't there and I was alone. I knew enough from girls camp and enrichment nights but it was such a wake up call that I need to be prepared! All of us do! Even the Nurses knowledge was clouded by the situation. They later realized the many mistakes they made and luckily they didn't effect the outcome. When water is involved never take your eyes off your children, even for a second. Always be within arms reach! Many of you might be thinking "Duh" but seriously we all do it!
I also know that Prayer truly works. In the midst of my screaming and crying I took a deep breath and said a heartfelt prayer. I know that Heavenly Father heard me. Then shortly after Porter took his breath. Its amazing to me how awesome he is doing! We worried for awhile about how long he had been without oxygen and if they would have any repercusions on his physical or mental ability. We just had to wait. Slowly he was starting to say a few words and even laughing and giggling. We knew he was going to be ok when we took him to the childrens toy room and set him down to walk. He picked up a ball and and went shoot it in the basket, missed and said "dangit!" He has been so sweet and so cute today and I appreciate every move he makes. Everytime I look at him I am so thankful I was given a second chance. Hug your children tonight and please learn from me so you don't have to go through this awful scare!

This is the type of floatie porter had been wearing! The first picture above was taken the day of the accident. I bought the most expensive, name brand speedo, tight fit, correct weight requirement device at the store! I didnt leave him alone thinking it was safe, I knew it wouldn't save his life, I just was using it as an extra precaution. It didn't work and made the situation even worse. The swim teacher told me the problem with them is they give children and parents a false sense of securtiy! Its true and I hate that I had to learn the hard way!

10 Years...

I really really can't believe I have been graduated from high school for 10 years! It seems totally insane but after Saturday night I soon realized it was true! Matt and I attended my 10 year reunion and it was so much fun. I was a little skeptical about going, not knowing who would be there because I don't really keep in touch with anyone. But I was quickly put at ease with how many people came I was really excited to see. There were also many that I was sad about not seeing! I was in charge of putting a slide show together that I really truly thought was not going to happen. But because I have an awesome husband that loves me so much helped me pull it off!

Matt was so good and supportive the whole night. Whenever I asked if he was ready to go home he would just say "this is your night!"

I love these guys! It was so so good to see them! Mark and Chad kept me in stitches my senior year and also this night as we were reminiscing about funny things we did!

Prom queen and king! Hee Hee!

Eliza doing her Dancey dance!

A few months ago (I know...I have been really lagging in the blogging department) Eliza was filmed for a future YGG segment. She was so excited and did such a good job. We practiced and practiced and the day finally came. They had it all planned out so well!

When we first walked in we filled out paperwork and then went to the sound booth where she recorded her "my names Eliza, I like to dance!" part.

Then we went to wardrobe and makeup where they did her hair, gave her a cute dress and then practiced what they wanted her to do. My cute sister Heather does the hair for YGG so it was fun to have her there to show us the ropes and make eliza look so cute!

My brother Scott..He's so cool!

She also was suppose to have a cute princess dress up on but froze when it was her time to dance! So we took the dress up off and then she did awesome! (it pays to have your brother be the director or she would have been canned forsure!)

It was so hot that day, plus they don't have very good air conditioning so we all were getting a little grumpy by the end. I don't know how all the workers last everyday, all day! It was so fun to be a part of it and we were so proud of our little performer!

Due to privacy issues we have been asked to refer to the show my brother created on nickjr. as YGG!

A Tragic Loss

A Dear friend from College lossed his wife on sunday and I am deeply saddened by this tragedy. I can't seem to stop thinking about her and her life. Amber Jacobson was the sweetest person I have ever met and although I didnt know her well I admired so many things about her! She was an incredible mom who loved her kids and devoted everything to them. She loved her husband and had such a positive outlook on his busy schedule in Medical school. She always seemed to smile and loved to talk and spend time with friends. The few times I was with her she touched me and made me want to be a better person.
There has been an account set up in their name at Wells Fargo for anyone who wants to make a donation. If you or anyone you know can help please drop by any Wells Fargo and make a check out to the Amber Jacobson Memorial Private Account (Account #8888362459/Routing #122105278). You can make a donation by taking in a check to Wells Fargo or by transferring funds from your personal Wells Fargo account to the Memorial Account.

One of the many perks of living in Brea!

We love swimming lesson at the Brea Plunge! I seriously think it is the best program for swimming lessons. Today Eliza jumped off the diving board and swam all the way to the side. She was pretty excited about it! Porter and I do a mommy and me class that he isn't quite as excited about but is doing so well! Eliza has her class at the same time with her 2 cousins! My sisters Nanette, Ruth and Katie are all in the mommy and me class also along with my cousin Amelia and friend Sarah! This was one of the many reasons I decided to quit my job at Delta. I was sad that I would have to give up going to these lessons every morning with my kids! It was a good decision I feel settled about!
